Meagan Good is bringing the sexy to COMPLEX magazine’s newest issue!
With her upcoming movie Anchorman 2 hitting theatres very soon, Megan talks to the mag about being the real life Ron Burgundy, going for the sexy roles in her early 20′s and why it ended up backfiring on her.
Have you dated any real-life Ron Burgundys?
No, because I’m that person. (Laughs.) Often times, when I try to make a joke, I don’t know what I’m talking about and people look at me all confused. I was home schooled, and I remember thinking when I was around 19 that New England was a country. No joke, I asked somebody, “What is that country that you can get to by train from New York?” (Laughs.) I’d seen New England in Valley of the Dolls and didn’t realize it wasn’t a country.
That’s not something you’d ever want to share on a first date.
You never know. I appreciate it when people are authentic. There’s a difference between having wisdom and having knowledge. I have a lot of wisdom, having grown up in this industry, but I’ve had to work on the knowledge part. So it never bothers me when I meet another person who doesn’t have a whole lot of knowledge, as long as they have wisdom. I’m more attracted to someone’s wisdom than their book smarts.
Earlier in your career, your sexuality was a big selling point, from 50 Cent’s ’21 Questions’ video to playing the sexy love interest in various movies. How do you feel about that time in your life?
When I got into my 20s, I was fighting for people to see that the little girl from Friday and Eve’s Bayou wasn’t a little girl anymore. That’s why my career took the “sexy” turn. By my mid-20s, it had backfired. I was always playing the sexy roles. It was hard for me to be taken seriously as a good actress. I had to fight my way out of that box that people put me in.

“I’m a grown woman, I can do whatever I want”
Ever since I saw Beyonce perform the full version of “Grown Woman” in Paris during “The Mrs. Carter show” concert, I’ve been a bit obsessed with it. It’s totally become my anthem! Now I know everyone has been patiently waiting for her to release the music video to this song, and it’s finally almost here.
Over the weekend a sneak peek of “Grown Woman” was released where you’ll see cameos from Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles and some adorable little kids!
In a televised address President Jacob Zuma said “Our nation has lost its greatest son.” South Africa’s first Black President Nelson Mandela had died at 8:50 PM local time.
Accused of treason by the South African government and sentenced to live in prison. From prisoner to President Mandela is known worldwide as an iconic civil rights figure his name being synonymous for the longstanding fight against South Africa’s white supremacist government.
After battling a recurring lung infection that at one point developed into pneumonia a result of his lungs being weakened by tuberculosis which he contracted during his 27 years spent behind bars. Mandela was released from the hospital in early September and his treatment continued from home.
”He is now resting. He is now at peace. Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father. Although we knew that this day would come, nothing can diminish our sense of a profound and enduring loss.”
Wise words from Nelson Mandela:
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
On The Impossible:
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
“There is no passion to be found playing small—in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
Getting back up:
“Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”
That awkward moment when you lose your endorsement deal because you wanted to turn up on Twitter…SMH!
A little over a month ago ya’ll remember Rihanna and Teyana Taylor had the internet going crazy over their Twitter beef. Teyana called out Rihanna for posting a video of her hairstylist pretty much making fun of her singing. Well, the girls kept throwing jabs at one another and it was all fun and games until Teyana posted that battered picture of Rihanna. I would really love to know especially as a woman, why would she think that posting that picture was funny? What the hell is funny about a man beating a woman?
As soon as it happened the Rihanna Navy drew up a petition on Change.org (which I signed) to have Teyana dropped by ADIDAS. Honestly after a while people assumed the petition didn’t work until Black Friday came around and her new shoes weren’t released. When fans asked Teyana, she denied being dropped, but as of yesterday a rep for ADIDAS released a statement to MadameNoir saying, “We have ended our relationship with Teyana Taylor and do not have any upcoming product launches with her.” When asked the reasoning for releasing her the rep said, “All I can say is that adidas partners with athletes and artists who blend well with our brand values. We evaluate our relationships with partners based on the values we hold at adidas and we don’t condone violence of any kind.”
Oh, Teyana Taylor’s fans also tried to make Rihanna lose her endorsement with MAC, but that’s not happening. Her new collection will be released in stores just in time for the holidays.

I can’t believe season 9 of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ is right around the corner. Didn’t season 8 just end with the worst ratings the show has ever had?
Well, the Kardashian girls just released a sneak peek of the upcoming season of KUWTK and they all said it’s their favorite season ever (they say that every season). In the sneak peek you’ll see Kanye’s proposal, Kris and Bruce tell their daughters their separating and Khloe discuss the drama that is her marriage to Lamar Odom. As much as I don’t want to watch the Kardashians and I kind of didn’t last season, I definitely have to this season!

Was I the only one that was confused and shocked once news got out that Evelyn Lozada was six months pregnant? I guess now it makes sense why she didn’t want to film the Basketball Wives reunion show. I just have so many questions that need to be answered like ASAP! Who’s the baby daddy? When did ya’ll start hooking up? And is the baby daddy your man or just a sperm donor?
Evelyn released a statement to People magazine saying, “I am so excited to announce a wonderful blessing — I’m pregnant! I’m excited about being a mommy all over again. This is something I’ve been wanting for years and I can’t believe it’s finally happening.”
I wonder if Evelyn is currently filming all of this for her own reality show, since last season of Basketball Wives was an epic fail.
Barbara Walters has just released her annual ‘Most Fascinating People of the year’ list! On this years list there’s people who are definitely fascinating and some who you wonder why people would ever find fascinating. Prime example, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West a.k.a “Kimye”. As much as I just want them to go away and leave the spotlight for at least a good year, I still find myself blogging about them every other day. It’s like I want to stop, but I just can’t!
Besides Kimye, actress Jennifer Lawrence, Miley Cyrus, Prince George, the cast of Duck Dynasty, Robin Roberts, Diana Nyad, Edward Snowden and Pope Francis made the list. The number one most fascinating person will be revealed when the show airs on December 18th at 9:30 pm on ABC. I’m guessing it’s going to be Kerry Washington.
Don’t you just love you some Demi Lovato? She’s a judge on X Factor, has multiple hit records, she’s a wonderful role model for women and kids and she’s only 21! Demi covers the December/January 2014 of Nylon magazine and opens up about going to rehab, wanting to be a younger Oprah and more.
On staying honest with fans: “When I went into rehab, I deleted my Twitter…I didn’t want to force anything. My parents came to visit, and I asked if people knew yet, and they said, ‘Yeah, it’s everywhere.’ And they were like, ‘How do you want to handle this? We can say it’s a personal time and we don’t have to tell them what you’re in here for, or we can just be 100 percent honest and show them that you can get through it and other people can get through it, too.’”
On finding her own look: “When I was on the Disney Channel, I wanted to get my nose pierced in the middle, so that I could flip it up during filming, and flip it down at night to let the wild child side come out. Turns out, I didn’t need the nose ring.”
On Multitasking: “I look at my life and think, ‘There’s not enough time.’ I co-directed my last two videos, and I have this dream of being behind the camera and one day directing my own movie. I want to host my own show and be a younger Oprah. I want to write songs for other artists. I want to be an author. I want my own makeup line, and my own skincare line. I want to do a lot more philanthropy work, and for a while there I thought I wanted to go to law school.”
