LISTEN: Drake’s “These Days” and “Controlla” Hit the Web

Not sure if this was an “unintentional release” and it’s still not clear if either of these songs will appear on Aubry’s upcoming album Views From the 6, but they’re something to wet your palette while you wait.

I’ve been listening to Controlla on repeat for the past hour. The pairing of Dancehall artist Popcaan  on this track has me fluctuating between wanting to lay out in a cabana on a steamy island in the caribbean to wanting to give a private dance heavy on the slow whine! Drake is the stripper, whisperer so the latter might be the subliminal vibe.

“Knowing I’d lie for you / thinking I’d die for you / Jodeci “Cry” for you/ Do things when you want me too / Like controlla, controlla / like controlla, controlla”

Him so sensitive! Jodeci Cry  though Drizzy?

Views From the 6 is slated for an April release, and if Controlla is any indication of what we can expect, this could be a fun, laid back summer album. I prefer lover boy Drake versus battle rap/diss track Drake. Not sure if either track is the shock factor he eluded to in a conversation with Complex writer Ernest Baker back in April 2015 but I’m not seeing this as much of a deviation to the Drizzy formula.  Baker wrote, “It appears that Drake is ready to deviate from his winning formula and get a little weird.”

Listen to “These Days” and “Controlla” after the jump and tell me what you think….
