New England Patriots Moving Tribute To Daughter of Cincinnati Bengals Devon Still

Leah the daughter of Cincinnati Bengals defensive linemen Devon Still was diagnosed with pediatric cancer in June and recently underwent a successful surgery two weeks ago to remove a cancerous tumor (She is still undergoing treatments as the cancer spread to her bones). The family’s story first tugged at America’s heart strings when Devon was  cut from the Bengal’s roster, but after his daughter was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, he was put on the practice squad so he would continue to be able to cover his daughter’s medical costs while also have less travel obligations so that he would be present for her treatments. Isn’t that AMAZING!?

This really caught me off guard yesterday. Big thanks to the Patriots organization and the cheerleaders for showing amazing support. We may not have won the game last night but putting a smile on my daughters face as she watched this definitely helps her to win her battle! #MoreThabFootball #PrayForLeah

The Patriots paid tribute to Leah during the third quarter of Sunday night’s game with a tribute video for Leah and other children battling cancer on the screens of the Gillette Stadium during a commercial break and the cheerleaders wore Still’s  Bengals jersey. The Patriots also announced that the owner of the Patriots Robert Kraft, will be donating $25,000 to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Now, when a Devon’s jersey is purchased, all proceeds are going to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for pediatric research efforts since the announcement was made Still’s jersey has become one of the NFL’s top sellers.

Post game Still had this to say:

“I was surprised,” he admitted. “I didn’t know they had the jerseys on. And then they played the video. It definitely made it emotional to see the cheerleaders take off their jackets and to see the jerseys definitely took it over the top for me. “We came here to play a football game with an opposing team, and I didn’t expect them to show the support that they did today. It was amazing what they did today. It shows this fight is more than about football. Everybody is trying to chip in and step up for the cause.”

Pre-surgery pep talk…I might be nervous and scared beyond words but I’ll never let her see it…let’s get this done!
