Serena William’s Pregnancy Announcement Was an Accident

Serena Williams is expecting her first child with fiancé, Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian. The internet went crazy when she “announced” the pregnancy on Snapchat. Well, we now know that wasn’t the tennis star’s intention. Speaking at the TED conference in Vancouver, Williams admitted that the photo was intended for her own personal records.

“I have this thing where I’ve been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I’m getting,” said Williams. “I was just saving them (for myself). I’ve been so good about it, but this was the one time it slipped.” 

It seemed rather early in her pregnancy for her to invite the public in, so, it makes sense. Williams also mentioned that she found out she was pregnant with her first child just two days before the start of the Australian Open. 

Although baby William-Ohanian won’t be making a debut for some time. The soon to be child of a champion is already making headlines.

Two-time Grand Slam tennis champion Ilie Nastase, made a comment about the skin color of Williams’ unborn child. The retired tennis player said, “Let’s see what color it has. Chocolate with milk?”  The comments were made at a Fed Cup news conference, later Nastase told the Associated Press he considers Williams a friend and asked.,”I want to know, what word I used is racist?” People just don’t think before they speak. Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian is white, and Williams is black. Williams posted a message expressing her disappointment with Nastase’s comments:
